Whether your thumb is green or you just like to enjoy the beautiful outdoors you are invited to join the Gardeners Group. These wonderful volunteers help make our center a place of beauty and color every summer. Come meet other gardeners, have fun in the sun and play in the dirt. Our spring planning session and potluck will be Tuesday, April 5 at 5:30 in the Senior Center Card Room. Please bring a dish to pass. RSVP to Chris Ellison at 664-3707 or email at email@example.com.
April might be one of our busiest months! New art classes; many computer, smart phone and tablet classes; a lunch and learn talk about nocturnal animals; two theater productions; the beginnings of out-of-doors activities; trips; the Memory Cafe is renewed. AND it’s our Annual Meeting on April 28. Continue Reading…
The Sr Center was one of the six gardens on the Northfield Garden Club Tour this past weekend. Judy Saye-Willis was the featured artist in the garden. Judy, who works with natural dyes (you can still see her exhibit in the NSC Gallery which runs through Aug. 9), demonstrated how flowers out of the Center gardens could be used to create works of art. Thanks to the center gardeners, who made this stop on the Garden Tour so special:
Linda Billings, Joe Endert, Nancy Enge, Jim Glover, Kathy Hart, June Lenz, Jane Rezac, Vicki Roller, Chris Wood, Rose Turnacliff, Sandy Wenner, Carolyn Sanford, Lenora St. Martin and Edie Thomas
Are you looking for a fun way to serve your community? The Used a Bit Shoppe needs volunteers who can work 2 to 4 hours per week in all aspects of the Shoppe operation – as cashiers, as fix-it folk, as people checking new donations in, and more. Shop manager Kristi Casson says, “This is a great place to be! It’s fun to help unloading the goodies that come in, and we’ve been having good sales, which is also fun.” All proceeds from the Shoppe go to support the operations of the Northfield Senior Center.
If you are interested, call the Shoppe, 507-645-1399, to let them know.
During the Vintage Band Festival, there will be wonderful music on the Square every day, Aug 1 – 4, and we’ll be there selling popcorn! A great opportunity for us to be in the midst of a community event, enjoying the people, enjoying the music (and making some money for the Center at the same time).
We still need volunteers for these shifts:
Thurs, Aug 1, 2:45 – 5:30pm
Fri, Aug 2, 2:45 – 5:30pm
Fri, Aug 2, 5:30 – 8:30pm
Sat, Aug 2, 1-4:30pm
Contact Gail Noren, Popcorn Wagon coordinator, at 664-3735, or 763-259-8022, or firstname.lastname@example.org, if you are willing to help on any of these shifts. If you have never done this before, we’ll train you (it’s easy), and find a partner who has experience in the Wagon. The Popcorn Wagon adds so much to the spirit of our downtown, and especially important to have this icon open during the Vintage Band weekend. Volunteering there is a great way to help…and have fun at the same time.
