Special Orientations for New Fitness Equipment

As we all know, when it comes to new equipment or change there is always a learning curve. To make things easier for this month Craig Swenson has gathered the assistance of volunteers and trainers to be available in the wellness center during certain hours each day. These volunteers and trainers will be there to help answer any basic questions that people may have about the new machines. We will have this style of orientation/monitoring for the rest of this month to see if we can help as many people as possible at the Northfield Senior Center.  We will post at the front desk and by the check in screen, the special dates and times people can come in to be orientated on the new equipment. Members do not need to sign up; they just need to come come in when it works best for them.

Nat’l Senior Health & Fitness Day – May 27

Wednesday, May 27, 7:00 am – 6:30 pm

Center members have the opportunity join with an estimated 100,000 seniors across the country celebrating the 22nd annual National Senior Health and Fitness Day. This day is designed to encourage seniors to enhance the quality of their lives through living an active, healthy lifestyle. The theme for this year’s event is “If You Keep Moving…You’ll Keep Improving.” We will be combining this celebration with the Grand Re-opening of our newly updated and remodeled Fitness Room. Come see the space and try out the new equipment.

The day will be filled with special activities in addition to our regular programming. We will offer all our fitness classes free of charge, give tours of the Center, have blood pressure screenings and fitness assessments (a brief screening of your current strength, endurance and flexibility levels), give orientations to our new fitness equipment, and have healthy snacks, brain health packets and great prizes! Check out the schedule below then save the date and join us for a fun-filled celebration! Continue Reading…

Fitness Room Gets a Facelift

…and NEW WORKOUT MACHINES!  If you come to the Center to work out in the fitness room, you’ll find the room empty, in the process of an extensive re-model.  The cardio machines have moved to room 104 and the far link, just through Thursday, so you may still work out while new carpet is laid, and the walls are spruced up.Fitness Forward 004Fitness Forward 002Fitness Forward 007

25 People Rode on First Pedaler Ride of the Season

Beautiful sunshine and warmer temps greeted twenty-five riders on the first outing of this season last Monday.  The Northfield Pedalers will gather for a ride at the Center every Monday morning at 8:30, until the snow flies again. All are welcome to join them.
