Music Groups

Chime Choir

The Chime Choir meets September through May at 9:30 – 11 am on every Thursday at the Senior Center under the direction of Marilyn Finneseth, the choir makes beautiful music with three octaves of chime notes.. Each member of the choir usually plays two chime notes. By counting the rhythms and then playing notes at the appropriate time, those individual notes are magically turned into soothing and inspiring songs. If you have ever played a musical instrument or would like to learn, come try it out. No fee.

The Band

Dates: starts Thursday October 5

Time: 4:30-6pm

Description of Program: Do you play an instrument or have you always wanted to learn one? We would love to have you join us in the  Northfield  Senior Center band. Many people are at different stages of their musical lives. Some have played every day for years. Others have an instrument stashed away in a closet that needs dusting off. Still others have dreamt about learning to play, but have never had the opportunity. Anyone from a first-time beginner to a seasoned professional are all welcome to play with the ensemble.

Learning, playing, and performing together is a transformative experience; new friendships are formed with fellow musicians. We hope to give you an opportunity to learn (or re-learn) how to play an instrument in a positive, comfortable learning environment where senior musicians can engage and succeed.

4:30-5:00 will focus on beginning instruction for those who are just learning an instrument or need some refresher tips. The full ensemble will meet from 5:00-6:00.

NOTE:  Brass, percussion and woodwind instruments only  (no strings)
